When we set out to build the PetZuvi paw cleaner, we evaluated three bristle materials. Each had tradeoffs.
Plastic (the cheap option)
Most paw cleaners on Amazon use rigid plastic. It is cheap. It cleans aggressively. It also stresses dogs and can scratch sensitive paw pads after repeat use.
Natural rubber
Softer, more dog-friendly. But it degrades within months. The bristles tear off, get into the dog's mouth, and the cup becomes useless.
Food-grade silicone
This is what we use. The same silicone that is used in baby pacifiers and high-end kitchenware. It is soft enough that even anxious dogs tolerate it. Durable enough to last years. Won't crack, peel, or absorb odor.
It costs us about 3x more in materials than the plastic version. We didn't pass that on. We just wouldn't sell anything else.
Try the silicone difference yourself.
